Born and raised in Toronto to a vibrant mix of Hispanic and Middle-Eastern cultures,
Ismail 'Ish' Ali found his calling in cinematography at a young age. Surrounded by
the rich tapestry of Toronto's diverse neighborhoods, Ish's upbringing instilled in
him a deep appreciation for storytelling through visual artistry.
His career highlights include lensing projects for acclaimed directors such as:
Sherren Lee, Karen Chapman and Shabnam Sukhdev, each collaboration enriching
his portfolio with diverse storytelling perspectives. Ish's work has garnered
international acclaim, with his visual work premiering at prestigious International
Film Festivals such as TIFF, HotDocs and Reel Asian to name a few.
While Ish finds fulfillment in documentary storytelling, where he expertly uses
minimal tools to capture profound moments, his artistic versatility shines in
narrative and commercial projects. He thrives on pushing the boundaries of
cinematography, consistently delivering visual excellence that elevates every
project he touches.
Driven by a desire to expand his horizons beyond Toronto, Ish harbors
ambitious dreams of contributing to film productions across North
America, Europe and Asian, spanning commercial releases and streaming
platforms alike.
